Andrea Booker selected for Trade City by Harfleet&Jack
Using the urban environment as an abundant resource Andrea Booker reclaims signage from the facades of derelict buildings in cities undergoing regeneration. The signs are re-wired and reformed, and the lettering is altered to spell out a response to the process of regeneration and resultant ghettoized community. Andrea is based in Manchester, and has exhibited regionally. She was the winner of CUBE Open, 2008.

Harfleet&Jack's Curatorial Approach: Trade City
For TradeCity Harfleet & Jack have selected three artists that reference the unique qualities of the CHIPS building designed by Will Alsop who is said to be inspired by “three fat chips piled on top of one another”. The resulting building and its’ architectural form and surrounding area suggest the notions of scale and ironic metaphorical interplays that Andrea Booker, Paul Cordwell and Kevin Hunt explore within their artistic practices. Each artist explores notions of scale, perception of the urban environment, and the status of the objects that exist within it.
