Bureau (Salford/Manchester, UK) launched in 2006, working predominantly with young international artists to commission new works and premiere work previously unseen in Manchester, and throughout the UK.

Focusing on dynamic and innovative visual practice, and cultivating international collaborations and project partnerships, Bureau has worked with a number of emerging, mid-career, and established artists and organisations from around the world, including Australia, Denmark, Italy, Finland, France, Netherlands, Turkey, the UK and USA.

Bureau has participated in Zoo Art Fair, London, and Kunst Zurich, Switzerland. In 2008 Bureau co-ordinated and curated Swap/Vaihto, a large-scale exchange and exhibition project of UK and Finnish artists in partnership with the Cable Factory and HIAP in Helsinki, and is currently developing a project with A Foundation, Liverpool and London, UK.

Bureau has received funding for activities from Arts Council England, Salford Council, The British Council, The Finnish Institute, The Finnish Embassy, Royal Netherlands Embassy, and the Bank of Zurich. It also works with a core group of artists, securing them exhibition, commission, and selling opportunities.

Bureau is a not-for-profit organisation run by Directors Sophia Crilly and Mark Kennard, both practicing artists and lecturers in art and cultural theory.
